Proposed Activity: The development of a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) gas turbine plant at the existing Neopak Facility in Rosslyn, Gauteng. The CHP Plant will generate steam and electricity for the Neopak Facility operations.
Location: At the existing operational Neopak Facility located on Portion 3 of Erf 39, Portion 1 of Erf, 41 and Erf 40 (514 Hendrik van Eck Street, Rosslyn).
Basic Assessment Process: In terms of sections 24 and 24D of NEMA, as read with the EIA Regulations 2014 of GNR982, GNR983; GNR984; and GNR985, a Basic Assessment process is required to obtain Environmental Authorisation for the proposed project. An application for Environmental Authorisation for the CHP Plant has been lodged with the National Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), as the competent authority. Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required environmental impact assessment and public participation process.
Basic Assessment Report available for Review: The Basic Assessment Report is available for review and comment. The report is available at the Neopak Facility Reception (514 Hendrick van Eck Street, Rosslyn) from 28 February 2017 – 31 March 2017. The report is also available for download on www.savannahsa.com/projects. The due date for written comment is 31 March 2017.
