Kriel Power Station Lime Plant Upgrade.
Applicant: Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd.
Proposed Activity: Eskom Holdings SOC (Pty) Ltd, is proposing the development of two separate Lime Plants, one on the northern and one on the southern sections of the cooling towers at the Kriel Power Station (KPS), Mpumalanga Province, located entirely within the existing KPS property of Kriel Power Station, 65 IS.
Project Location: The Kriel Power Station is situated approximately 43km south of eMalahleni (Witbank), 4km north east of the Matla Power Station and 8km west of the town Kriel. The proposed development falls within the jurisdiction of the eMalahleni Local Municipality and within the great Nkangala District Municipality.

Basic Assessment Process: In terms of Sections 24 and 24D of the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998), as read with Government Notice R324 – R327, as amended (2017), a Basic Assessment (BA) is required for this project. Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required BA and public participation process for the project.
This advert serves to notify the public of the proposed project, and the Basic Assessment Report that is now available for review and comment from Friday, 18 January 2019 to Monday, 18 February 2019: The BA report can be viewed at the Kriel Public Library, corner Quintin & Heinrich Street, Kriel, or downloaded from http://www.savannahsa.com/public-documents/other/ upon request. The due date for written comment is Monday, 18 February 2019.
