Proposed Activity: The development of a Water Treatment Plant at the existing Neopak Facility in Rosslyn Gauteng. The development and operation of the Water Treatment Plant will reduce the amount of effluent being discharged to the Municipal system and will assist in the treating and recovering of water for re-use in the paper mill operations.
Location: At the existing operational Neopak Facility located on Portion 3 of Erf 39, Portion 1 of Erf, 41 and Erf 40 (514 Hendrik van Eck Street, Rosslyn).
Basic Assessment Process: In terms of sections 24 and 24D of NEMA, as read with the EIA Regulations 2014 of GNR324 – R327, a Basic Assessment process is required to obtain Environmental Authorisation for the proposed project. An application for Environmental Authorisation for the Water Treatment Plant has been lodged with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD), as the competent authority. Savannah Environmental is undertaking the required environmental impact assessment and public participation process.
Basic Assessment Report available for Review: The Basic Assessment Report is available for review and comment. The report is available at the Neopak Facility Reception (514 Hendrick van Eck Street, Rosslyn) from 14 November 2017 – 14 December 2017. The report is also available for download on www.savannahsa.com/projects. The due date for written comment is 14 December 2017.
