NOTICE OF AN EXTERNAL COMPLIANCE AUDIT (SECTION 54) AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS: SANNASPOS PV PLANT PHASE 1, FREE STATE PROVINCE
As a registered Interested and Affected Party for the Sannaspos PV Plant Phase 1, please be advised that in terms of Section 54(a)(3) of the EIA regulations (GNR 326, 7 April 2018), Savannah Environmental (Pty) Ltd has undertaken an external environmental compliance audit and prepared an external environmental compliance audit report assessing Solaire Direct Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd compliance with the Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) applicable to the project.
The Sannaspos PV Plant Phase 1 will consist of multiple PV panels with generating capacity of up to 75MW, as well as associated infrastructure which will include, an on-site substation and a 132KV overhead power line to facilitate the connection between the solar energy facility and the Eskom electricity grid. The Environmental Authorisation (EA) for this project was issued by the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), in June 2013 and the construction of this project has not yet commenced.
The Sannaspos PV Plant Phase 1 facility is located on the following properties:
» Portion 0 of the Farm 1808 Besemkop
» Portion 0 of the Farm 2962 Lejwe
In terms of Section 54(A)(3) of the EIA Regulations 2014 of GNR 326, an independent External Compliance Audits (‘a S54 Audit’) is required to verify compliance with the Environmental Management Programmes (EMPr) for the project. This letter hereby notifies all potential and registered interested and affected parties, including organs of state with applicable jurisdiction as well as the competent authority, of the submission of the external compliance audit report to the competent authority. The report is available for inspection at https://www.savannahsa.com/public-documents/other/ for 14 days from date of this notification.
